Abstract

This article reveals that Group of Seven (G-7) nations have welcomed measures adopted by China to boost its economy and its promises of greater currency flexibility amid their call for the yuan to appreciate. It is possible that the toned-down language on the yuan will reduce the risk aversion in currency markets. According to a G-7 statement, they are hoping for a stronger yuan. Particular focus is given to the decline posted by the euro-zone economy in the final three months of 2008, along with the euro's performance against other currencies.
