Abstract

The article describes the work of ceramic artist Graciela Olio of Argentina. From 1986 to 1987, a period which can be synthesised as social satire, she created ceramic pieces with a smooth surface, almost canvas-like where the brush slides in delicate strokes expressing minimal gestures, while the solid structure of building materials provided solidarity and strength. For her work, Olio incorporates different materials such as bricks, paint and corrugated cardboard to create a collage which is said to extend the traditional boundaries of ceramics.
