The author describes how his insect phobia became a deep passion for his art works. He reveals that he has had a phobia of insects in the first 30 years of his life. However, his interest in insects started when he show framed beetles at a night market in Bangkok, Thailand. As his interest grew, the author began a serious study of entomology and ventured to remote locales in Latin America and Southeast Asia to collect and observe exceptional species in their natural habitats. Since then, he have portrayed insects in his drawings and paintings. The author claims that his former fear of insects developed into a passion in using arthropods in his art.
