Abstract
- SANLU The Sanlu Group, the most prominent of 22 Chinese dairy companies that sold contaminated dairy products, was bought at auction on Wednesday for $90.3 million by the Beijing Sanyuan Group Company, according to Xinhua, the official news agency. The companies sold dairy products like infant formula that were contaminated with melamine, a chemical that made the protein content appear higher. The products were blamed for making hundreds of thousands of children ill and killing six. The scandal forced Sanlu into bankruptcy. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
