Abstract
- The article discusses the negligence case between the West Baton Rouge School District in Louisiana and automotive mechanics teacher James Howard. The article describes how Howard's concealed a gun in the glove compartment of his car, which was subsequently stolen after he parked the car near the classroom of the school. The school board ruled that Howard acted in negligence while the Louisiana Supreme Court reversed the decision and ordered Howard's reinstatement. The subjectivity of the legal and judicial process is discussed, along with the effect of the Supreme Court's decision on educational policy.
