Abstract
- The article discusses computer science (CS) conferences, presenting a methodology for determining the different characteristics of questionable versus respectable CS conferences. The CS discipline requires the verification of ideas through a rigorous peer-review process prior to publication in conferences, the article states. Topics include the pressures of CS researchers to publish academic papers, competition related to top-tier CS conferences, and program committee (PC) members of CS conferences who do not realize their conference is being operated merely for profit.
