Abstract
- The authors stress the need for combined lipid-lowering therapies in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients with an increased cardiovascular risk associated with elevated triglyceride levels. They tackle the proposed pathophysiological mechanisms for the said risk. A randomized clinical trial of statin therapy versus combination statin and fibrate therapy in such patients is also explained. They note the effectiveness of statins that lower low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels.
