Discussion of “Measurement of wave-by-wave bed-levels in the swash zone” by Ian L. Turner, Paul E. Russell, Tony Butt [Coastal Eng. 55 (2008) 1237-1242]

Abstract: This paper is a discussion of Turner et al. “Measurement of wave-by-wave bed-levels in the swash zone”. The discussion highlights previous work on the same topic that in fact demonstrated swash-by-swash measurements of total net sediment transport, but which was not presented by Turner et al. The discussion highlights the advantages and disadvantages of the two measurement methods, and the problem of longshore sediment motion which can introduce errors. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
