Abstract

The article presents an aesthetic discussion of narratives which explores the idea of symmetry between literary narratives and other forms of narration such as those in used in comics, dance and motion pictures. The philosophies of narrative in films proposed by Gregory Currie and Berys Gaut are discussed. The author argues from a philosophical language basis of "de re" as opposed to "de dicto" regarding the existence of implicit and explicit narrators in non-literary fictions. The author considers the films "The Blair Witch Project," directed by Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez, and "The Princess Bride," directed by Rob Reiner, as well as the book "Huckleberry Finn," by Mark Twain.
