Abstract

The article reports on the swift submission of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's draft laws that aim to extend the presidential and parliamentary terms of office. This could signify that the timing of Medvedev's first state of the nation address to coincide with the 91st anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution is not accident.
