Abstract
- The article reports on an announcement by U.S. Secretary of Transportation Mary Peters that Los Angeles, California will receive $210 million in federal funds to help reduce traffic congestion and provide better bus transit services. According to Peters, the funding will allow local leaders to move forward with a plan to convert existing high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes to high-occupancy toll (HOT) lanes and implement congestion pricing to improve traffic, air quality and quality of life in southern California.
