Abstract

The article focuses on the life and works of Paul Robinson, an athlete, stage and screen actor, singer, orator, and radical civil rights and political activist in the U.S. His stellar reputation has slowly re-emerged, ending generations of official silence and hostility due to his outspoken political radicalism and his disgraceful removal from the historical record during the era of postwar McCarthyism and anticommunist fury. Meanwhile, the 110th anniversary of his birth opens a splendid opportunity to build on the resurrection of the Robinson legacy and to expand public knowledge of his work and reputation.
