Abstract: The article discusses modestly hopeful signs for the U.S. economy. Two manufacturing reports issued the week of January 11, 2008 showed continued deterioration in the sector, albeit at a reduced pace. Similar can be said for an index of economic indicators produced by the Economic Cycle Research Institute.
