This article reports that liberal supporters of 2008 U.S. President-elect Barack Obama are concerned with his appointment of adviser John Brennan to a counterterrorism position not subject to Senate confirmation. Both Brennan and Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Deputy Director Steve Kappes, whom Obama is likely to retain, have been in some way supportive of the contentious anti-terrorism policies of U.S. President George W. Bush.
