Abstract
- The article discusses highlights of a November 2007 conference convened by the Josiah Macy, Jr. Foundation to address several issues concerning continuing education (CE) in the health professions in the United States. Participants concluded that CE failed to focus adequately on enhancing clinician performance and patient care, relies too much on lectures, is inappropriately financed, and fails to encourage or emphasize newer technologies and point-of-care learning.
