Abstract
- The article offers information on the 40th anniversary of Umeå Jazz Festival in Sweden on October 22-26, 2008. It states that the festival affirmed what makes Umeå a significant stop on the European festival circuit. The event was a fine place to check in on the changing landscape of jazz from Scandinavia and the rest of Europe. The festival featured various jazz artists such as saxophonist Mats Gustafsson, pianist Alexander von Schlippenbach and trumpeter Axel Dörner.
