Abstract
- This article addresses the issue of sex and violence in the mass media. The author begins by offering an account of a party held in his suburban in which Britney Spears songs were performed. Next, he proceeds to describe the MTV Music Video Awards where Spears did a vulgar performance. According to the author, sex is more worrisome than violence. He frets about the possible impact of what he calls vulgarity of the public entertainment on his daughter's personality. He notes that there is a price to be paid for the liberty enjoyed by U.S. citizens.
