Abstract
- The article reports that the U.S. Environmental and Protection Agency (EPA) has finalized a rule that will exclude certain wastes from federal regulatory requirements governing the storage, transportation, and burning of hazardous waste. The changes to the exclusion rule will allow emission comparable fuels (ECF) to be burned for energy recovery in industrial boilers. ECFs are fuels that meet certain EPA specifications but are not subject to haz-waste disposal laws because their emissions are no more dangerous than emissions from traditional fuels.
