Abstract
- The article cites a study on the isolation and characterization of microsatellite loci in the longsnout catfish in China. The researchers isolated the microsatellite loci using an enrichment protocol. They extracted genomic DNA samples from muscle tissues using a standard proteinase K/phenol extraction protocol, which were pooled and digested with Sau3AI restriction enzyme. They designed forty primer sets through PRIMER 3 software and synthesized them. The researchers than screened the primers for polymorphism in 30 individuals from three locations. They concluded that the microsatellite loci will be useful for investigation of population structure, genetic diversity and phylogeography of longsnout catfish and other related species.
