Abstract

The article focuses on the close phylogenetic relationship between humans and primates which resulted in high potential for pathogen exchange. It features the integration of empirical data, diagnostics, and comparative approaches which offer patterns of infections in primates, and explains the role of disease and how anthropogenic effects alter zoonotic potential of pathogenic organisms. It also presents the aspect of disease researches and approaches biodiversity and disease risk in primates.
