Abstract

The article reports on the start of the development of a revolutionary hyperspectral imaging satellite by German aerospace center DLR. The Environmental Mapping and Analysis Program (EnMap) will be the first non-experimental spacecraft to use high-quality hyperspectral imagery, which has been limited mainly to aerial surveillance applications, according to contractor Kayser-Threde says. The primary objective of EnMap will be to provide data to build an improved model for global biospheric and geospheric processes.
