Abstract
- The article explains the widely attended gatherings (WAG) as an exception to the general ban on accepting or giving gifts or gratuities to or from federal officials in the U.S. Accordingly, WAG allows such employees to accept or give invitations to special events that include discussion or activity involving a group of attendees that advance official governmental duties. Although the U.S. Office of Government Ethics has provided guidance on WAG exception in 2007, ethics advisors of the U.S. Department of Defense still receives inquiries related to WAG.
