Abstract

The article focuses on the application of composite materials for the Primary Mirror Backplane Support Structure of the James Webb Space Telescope of the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). It is noted that the backplane support is required to be perfectly stable within 38 nanometer at cryogenic temperatures during long periods of light collection.
