Abstract

The authors reflect on the wine industry in California. They state that wine and wine grapes are among the signature products of the state. They cite that the state, which produces 90% of the wine supply in the U.S., generates revenues of $19 billion a year for wine grapes and wine alone. They contend that sustainability is about meeting the needs of the present without undermining the livelihood and needs of future generations.
