Abstract

The article presents an essay examining the early 20th century Scottish poet Edwin Muir and his artistic influences from the political circumstances of Czechoslovakia. Details are given describing Muir's career as an international journalist in Prague and its significance to his poetic efforts. Several examples of Muir's poetry exhibiting political thought concerning both Scotland's and Czechoslovakia's national identity are cited and analyzed.
