Abstract

The article focuses on Pancreas-preserving total duodenectomy (PPTD) that will replace pancreatoduodenectomy in treating patients with familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP). Patients with FAP develop multiple colonic adenomatous polyps, which if not treated will progress into colonic adenocarcinoma. PPTD will act as an alternative to pancreatoduodenectomy, however, it will result to definitive prevention of duodenal cancer but with lower morbidity and mortality rates.
