Abstract
- The article focuses on the excrement problem caused by the large number of vultures that have settled in Leesburg, Virginia. They filled the pines until boughs sheared off with their collective weight. The roost trees were slathered in excrement, and on cooler days the vultures skulked on the gravestones of a small cemetery, sliming the markers with their feces. Black vultures are exploiting urbanizing landscapes due to an increase in food sources such as roadkill and, from all indications, a warmer environment provided by the growing acres of asphalt and concrete.
