Abstract
- The article focuses on the Fifth Street Pedestrian Bridge constructed in Atlanta, Georgia. The bridge is described as a two-span structure with two vehicle traffic lanes, a turning lane, two paved bicycle lanes and a sidewalk. More than half of it is green space and offers benches, lawn and gathering areas. Bridge plantings were developed by landscape architect Smallwood, Reynolds, Stewart, Stewart & Associates (SRSSA). A main challenge of the project is to maintain traffic movement during construction.
