Scientists at the University of Utah are copying the scales on an iridescent beetle from Brazil to design supercomputers. The Roadrunner supercomputer, built by International Business Machines Corp. (IBM), has become the first computer to operate at a speed of a quadrillion calculation per second. Researchers with Pennsylvania State University have discovered bacteria at the bottom of a two mile ice core in Greenland.
