Abstract
- The article examines whether aortic valve replacement (AVR) is indicated in the management of asymptomatic severe aortic stenosis (AS). The authors discuss the risks associated with asymptomatic AS, as the developments in the risks linked with surgical intervention. They also express their belief that AVR should be considered in all asymptomatic patients with severe AS. They note that the decision on whether to proceed with AVR, particularly in an elderly patient, is taken on a case-by-case basis.
