Abstract

During the winter season, (2005-2006), a survey with different varieties and hybrids of Chinese cabbage of recent introduction to the Research Institute of Tropical Root and Tuber Crops, bananas and plantains (INIVIT) was carried out on a brown soil with carbonate. The varieties and hybrids were "King of King", "King of York", "Hércules" and "TSX- 595". A randomized block design with four replications was used. The best results were obtained by "TSX- 595" (47,77 t.ha-1) which showed a better performance than "Hércules" (43,61 t.ha-1 ) used as control. The objective proposed was to recommend to the growers varieties and hybrids with good characteristics and well-adapted to the Cuban edapho-climatic conditions, as well as, to increase the varietal spectrum of this species.
