Abstract

The article cites a study which examines the effects of caffeine supplementation on multiple sprint running performance. The study consisted 21 physically active men ingested a gelatin capsule containing either caffeine or placebo one hour before completing an indoor multiple sprint running trial. It shows that caffeine supplementation resulted in a 1.4% reduction in fastest sprint time which corresponded with a 1.2% increase in fatigue. The study concludes that caffeine has ergogenic properties with the potential to benefit performance in both single and multiple sprint sports.
