- The article discusses implications for savers in the U.S of consolidation in the banking industry. Many firms that have gotten larger, such as Bank of America Corp. and J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., do not have reputations for paying high rates of interest and charging low fees. Consumers may wish to consider what community banks, credit unions, and brokerage firms have to offer in terms of savings vehicles.
