Abstract: The article discusses the significance of a massive selloff in stocks on September 29, 2008. Although shares recovered some the following day, trading volume and the number of issues participating in the advance were relatively weak. With credit markets in difficult circumstances, it is not likely that stocks can enjoy a sustained rally any time soon.
