Abstract

The article highlights the Columbia River Gorge, the only sea-level pass through the north-south Cascade mountain range between Oregon and Washington. Its scenery is spectacular with its improved roads. The Interstate 84 is noted as the quickest and most convenient route out of Portland. Here, the monumental Vista House was built honoring pioneers and serves as an integration rest stop and observatory. The Full Sail Brewing Co. at downtown Hood River leads the craft beer movement for 20 years.
