Abstract

In the turn of the 21st century, we can look behind us and compare the realities of our present with the conceptions of our future contemplated in the past. In both cinema and literature, science fiction has always been the genre of anticipation and prediction in literature, it cannot be said that its structure is merely a product of imagination, since the relationships of science fiction with science are so close that, very often, the boundaries between them become indistinct and dubious. Science fiction is the modern folklore of humankind; understanding it means perceiving somehow what we actually think of ourselves, and about our own future. This text approaches the subject of everyday life in the turn of this new millennium as compared with the imaginary sceneries built during the 20th century, as well as the fragility of boundaries between fiction and reality.
