Abstract

This article discusses a study of the pharmaceutical control of heart rate as a method for preventing complications in patients with coronary artery disease and left-ventricular systolic dysfunction. The study was given the acronym BEAUTIFUL, which stands for morBidity-mortality EvAlUation of the If inhibitor ivabradine in patients with coronary disease and left ventricULar dysfunction. This study monitored the effects of ivabradine on patients taking β blockers on patients with elevated heart rates and the above mentioned cardiac issues.
