Abstract: The article offers news briefs concerning the mining industry in Asia. Rio Tinto PLC announces that it has generated 162 million metric tons of lateritic nickel resource at its nickel site in Sulawesi, Indonesia. Nuinsco Resources Ltd. has acquired the copper-gold property of Berta in Turkey. Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corp. and Southern Gold Resources Inc. have merged to form the joint venture company JOGMEC which will focus on gold and base metals explorations in Cambodia.
