Abstract

The article presents views from experts on Section 203 of the USA Patriot Act of 2001, which authorizes sharing of foreign intelligence information gathered in criminal investigations with certain federal officials. Kate Martin argues that widespread and indiscriminate warehousing of information about individuals violates basic privacy principles. On the other hand, Viet Dinh argues that the Act erased the statutory impediment to information sharing.
