Abstract
- Using nta (H3nta = nitrilotriacetic acid) as a bridging ligand, a new dinuclear copper(II) complex [Cu2(μ-nta)(phen)3](ClO4)· 2H2O (1) (phen = 1, 10-phenanthroline) has been synthesized and its structure and magnetic properties have been studied. In compound 1, two Cu(II) atoms take different coordination environments. One is pentacoordinated with a square pyramidal geometry; another is six-coordinated with a octahedral geometry. The temperature-dependent magnetic susceptibility measurements indicate the existence of a strong antiferromagnetic coupling between Cu(II) ions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
