Antiretroviral Therapy for Former Plasma Donors in China: Saving Lives When HIV Prevention Fails.

The authors reflect on the significant role played by antiretroviral treatment (ART) in preventing the spread of HIV and AIDS acquired from plasma donors in China. They assert that the treatment which is part of the 2003 China Cares program helps ensure the safety of blood transmitted to patients from plasma donors. In addition, the authors argue that ART plays essential role in preventing the spread of the disease in the country.
