Abstract

The article discusses the study on high levels of lipoprotein(a) and the risk of myocardial infarction (MI) and ischemic heart disease (IHD). It highlights the measurement of lipoprotein(a) levels right after sampling and corrected for regression dilution bias. It adds that results indicate a positive correlation between high levels of lipoproteins and the risk of IHD and excessively high levels of lipoproteins increases the risk of MI, with higher risk for the elderly.
