Abstract
- The article presents an overview of malignant gliomas, which account for approximately 70% of the 22,500 new cases of malignant primary brain tumors that are diagnosed in adults in the U.S. each year. A discussion of low survival rates which are seen with patients with malignant gliomas, and of progress which has been made in understanding them and effectively treating them, is presented. The accurate diagnosis and management of brain tumors in adults is discussed. Research which is being conducted into the management of gliomas is examined.
