The article deals with the selection of Xi'an Aircraft Industry Group Co. Ltd. (XAC) by the Chinese government to manufacture the country's first large passenger aircraft. According to XAC Chairman Meng Xiangkai, the government has appointed Commercial Aircraft Corp. of China Ltd. (CACC) to head the development, manufacturing and marketing of the aircraft, while XAC has been tasked to conduct more research work. He claimed that it would challenge for the country to manufacture large jets based on high international standards.
