Abstract

The article discusses the case of a 51-year-old man who was treated with capecitabine therapy. He was referred for evaluation of painful, eroded papules in his finger that appeared 6 weeks after treatment for an epidermoid carcinoma of the larynx. Capecitabine is a chemotherapeutic drug approved for use in colorectal and breast cancer. Due to the high concentration of thymidine phosphorylase in the skin, cutaneous side-effects are possible, including dermatitis, stomatitis and alopecia.
