Abstract
- The article reports that yields on U.S. certificates of deposit (CD) are on rise. As of August 2008, a number of U.S. banks are offering deposit rates above national averages. CD are becoming more appealing to investors as their yields exceed those of Treasury notes'. National average yields for one-year and five-year CD are 3.6 and 4.16 percent, respectively, compared with 2.3 and 3.3 percent for treasury notes of similar durations.
