Abstract
- The article offers information on the contribution of Leone Burton to the field of mathematics in Great Britain and worldwide. She was appointed Professor of Science and Mathematics Education at the University of Birmingham in England where she managed a legion of doctoral students. She has collaborated with Ann Floyd, Nick James and John Mason of the Open University in developing a mathematics course for teachers named Developing Mathematical Thinking. Burton served as convenor for the International Organization of Women and Mathematics Education (IOWME).
