Abstract

The influence of square cut-out upon the buckling stability of multilayered, steel woven fiber-reinforced polypropylene thermoplastic matrix composite plates are studied by using numerical and experimental methods. The laminated plates ([0°]3) under uniform pressure are formed by stacking three composite layers bonded symmetrically. The FE and experimental results are presented for various fiber orientation angles and plate boundary conditions. The critical buckling loads are more affected by square holes under clamped edge boundary conditions than by the simple supported edge case. The biggest decreases in the critical buckling loads are observed between 0° and 15° fiber orientations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
