Abstract

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a frequent pathology, estimated in 1.5% of the general population in the USA, that has a surgical solution, but not without complications (more than 10% of operated cases), and sometimes even serious (1.74% of cases in our serie). We show here the evolution over the last 15 years of our search for the best surgical technique to operate on this disease, and the failures along the way. We describe the technique generally employed nowadays, considering it not to be "the best", but simply the result of our search. We show the results of the study, which covers operations on almost 300 hands carried out between 2000 and 2005 in our Unit following a protocol established to quantify our findings.
