Abstract

The article examines economic conditions in Zimbabwe. Hyperinflation has rendered the country's currency almost worthless. A currency note worth 50 billion Zimbabwean dollars fetches less than one American dollar on the black market. The black market in currency has become the country's only source of foreign exchange, and increasingly dominates the economy.
